WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE has been my favorite book for as long as I can remember. Did you know it was once a banned book? People believed “Where the Wild Things Are” was psychologically damaging & traumatizing to young children due to Max's inability to control his emotions, along with his punishment of being sent to bed without dinner. Psychologists called it “too dark”. I always wanted to be King of the Wild Things! I thought it meant I’d be their friend. This book encouraged me to embrace my imagination, to love wonder, it provided a world outside of anxiety, it showed me that books are the best way to let the wild rumpus start!
