Whenever I talk about visiting the Harpers Ferry area, I rarely meet anyone who’s been, but I highly recommend a long weekend out there. It’s a beautiful place with many protected parks, a wild history and great ciders and vineyards. Though I wish they were closer, I’m very fortunate to be able to both visit my family and get to know it better. In the Appalachian Mountains where the Shenandoah river flows into the Potomac, about the same distance as the Poconos but there’s more to do.
