Current Relic. I originally bought a vintage gas pump to create this work but in the end I decided it was better to just reconstruct the entire thing digitally in 3D. I was then able to build texture and depth into the Advertisement and the numbers and text based details on the face. I had the model 3D printed and milled and then cast it in sections. People often imagine that I either just cast the actual object or that the object is inside or underneath the final sculpture. There is no way to physically capture a 2D print in a monotone 3D form. If I had just cast the original gas pump, it would just be two blocks with some hoses, no details. This one Start to finish about 9 months. ⛽️
