Chiaroscuro 1, our recently completed hairy sculpture / piece of architecture. Part of @l_d_f_official London Design Festival, this piece plays on the practical and aesthetic implications of utilizing hair waste as a material to be reintegrated into our built environment. Soft yet prickly, ugly but maybe pretty, the two hairy columns are juxtaposed between two classical ones, challenging ideas of perfection, beauty and the ideal through missed symmetries in form, color and all the other good stuff.
