I loved writing Double Down with @nette_clarke - The title has so many meanings..... Being twins taught us the power of connection and the need to individuate. Growing up as twins who dressed alike there was always that WOW factor when people saw us. Wow, they’re so cute, Wow they talk at the same time, etc... but there was always a fear that individually we might not be able to deliver what people wanted. What if we were uninteresting? What if as singletons we were just mediocre? That forced us to work hard to make ourselves as powerful as individuals as we were together. We had to figure out what made us unique and different. We wanted to have that same WOW factor as a singleton and that meant standing out in any room we entered...essentially, being different. Double Down on your unique flavor! We came into the world with a soulmate so we thrive off having profound connections with others. Having a twin has made us more conscious about making space/room for others in our lives and collaborating. Being a twin was just like having a crash course in humanity. We were really different growing up, so we tried to work out like a muscle the places where one of us was weak and the other strong. You need to surround yourself with people who make you want to workout your moral muscles and do your skills sets- if you will. So when you see a quality you admire in someone else, nurture it in yourself. We have such close friends because we are able to see really easily what we admire in them and what we can learn from them. Double Down on your crew! Being a twin, you don’t fit in with the conventions, and as a result I never settled for the Status Quo. And I learned from a young age that being an outsider lets you invent your own systems which more times than not gives you the opportunity to innovate.
