"She wasn’t allowed anyone with her at the hospital, so I couldn’t be with her for her chemotherapy. That was one of the hardest bits. "We FaceTimed while she had her chemotherapy, and it was tough seeing what she was going through but not being able to be with her. "Luckily, she was on the Teenage Cancer Trust unit and their Youth Support Coordinator Nicola was able to be with her during treatment. I know Ellie found this such a massive help and I’m glad she was able to have someone with her. It is such an important thing while people are going through cancer treatment anyway, but especially so during the pandemic. "Because I felt helpless about not being able to be there during treatment and because Teenage Cancer Trust and Nicola did such a good job at looking after her, I decided to sign up for the London Marathon. "It was my way of doing something and giving back to the charity and also raising awareness among my friends." When girlfriend Ellie was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, Covid restrictions meant that David wasn't allowed to be with her during treatment.
