Finally the day — TAKE PART IN opens today at @matterstore and runs through April 1st. The show is comprised of 24 pieces of sculpture and furniture in clay with wood, plaster, and metal components, and 1 edition piece in pewter. With whimsical movement and elements that invite interaction, the work is born of a curiosity to push the boundaries of a rigid material, and to push back on a reaction to ceramic as often feeling untouchable. The collection includes many iterations of chairs, one-of-a-kind lighting pieces (above), a set of modularly-inspired furniture pieces with hand carved wooden drawers, an array of sculptures, and finally a pewter ashtray with a hidden compartment for @mattermade.
