Can’t help reposting this glorious, bespoke cocktail from @thebitterfairy for @rafe_posey_writes’ debut, THE STARS WE SHARE!✨ ・・・ This is a very exciting and personal post for me. I have been waiting five years for this -- the day I get to post a cocktail celebrating the publication of my writing partner and pal @rafe_posey_writes's brilliant debut novel, THE STARS WE SHARE, which releases on one week from today (and you can preorder -- link is in my bio). If you like gorgeous historical fiction about far-flung locales, bears and frozen rivers, fighter planes and code-breaking, dogs and the odd mongoose, this book is for you.⁣ ⁣ This cocktail is inspired by the places that comprise the landscape of The Stars We Share: London dry gin and marmalade for England; ginger and curry for India and Sri Lanka; whisky for Edinburgh; baking spice in the form of Angostura bitters to recall the aromas of a 1930s vicarage kitchen in the English fenlands and a 1950s boarding house in Halifax. Too, the bitters are a nod to all the losses of the Second World War. ⁣ ⁣ Shared Stars⁣ ⁣ 2 oz London dry gin⁣ 2 tsp orange marmalade⁣ 1/2 oz ginger syrup⁣ 3/4 oz lime juice⁣ dash Angostura bitters⁣ a couple of mists (or a few drops) of peaty whisky⁣ marmalade and Madras curry sugar for rim⁣ ⁣ Rim glass with marmalade. Dip in sugar that has a bit of Madras curry mixed in. Combine gin, marmalade, ginger syrup, lime juice, and bitters and shake well with ice. Double strain into chilled vintage coupe. Mist with whisky (or just add a few drops directly into cocktail). Garnish with lime peel.⁣ ⁣ #drinks #drinkup #cocktailsofinstagram #drinkstagram #craftcocktails #craftedmixology #imbibe #imbibegram #mixology #cocktailoftheday #drinkart #thirsty #craftcocktail #bitters #yummy #happyhour #liquor #booze #instadrink #cocktailhour #gin #ginstagram #thestarsweshare
