Kia ora kiwi 🥝 San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance celebrated a happy hatching with the arrival of the first North Island brown kiwi chick born at the Safari Park. This fuzzy, flightless friend was born on June 13, and brings valuable genetic diversity to the very small brown kiwi population in North America. Wild kiwis are native to New Zealand and are at risk due to predation by non-native species like dogs and cats.
