2020 was a quietly productive year. Normal is thrilled to be the design team behind Pairs @pairs.gsd (just off the presses and still waiting to get our hands on an actual copy), a new student-led publication from the Harvard Graduate School of Design @harvardgsd. Pairs brings people and objects in conversation together to encourage unexpected thoughts, stories, and reflections to emerge. We are excited to embark on Issue 02 with the editors: Nicolás Delgado Alcega @nicolasdelgadoalcega, Vladimir Gintoff @vladimir_gintoff, Kimberley Huggins @kimberley.m.huggins, and Kyle Winston. Kahlil Joseph, artist and filmmaker, contributed the inaugural image for the cover of Issue 01. He and his team contributed the piece pictured above, which features a collection of stills from Joseph’s project BLKNWS®. Inside, Kahlil Joseph discusses the content of his cover with Alexandra Bell @yesitsalex, the artist and creator of the Counternarratives series. Together, they share their thoughts and experiences as two artists working against dominant narratives to find more honest and liberatory forms of news distribution.
