But when 1000s loose their lives during heatwaves in the Global South none of them give a damn. You treating Black and Brown lives from the GS as less worthy than the yt ones up north is beyond on brand. 🔪 As previously mentioned when we speak on coloniser countries were referring to yt ppl. Black and Brown communities even in the global north are disproportionately affected by climate change through various ways e.g it is cheaper to pollute Black neighbourhoods than yt ones in Amreekkka. Lower fines in Black and Brown neighbourhoods leads to land devaluation and degradation which results in more industries setting up shop creating a viscous cycle. 🔪 Donate to the recent floods in South Asia - Bangladesh/Pakistan/India if you haven’t already especially if you’re yt. Donate to disasters caused by climate change in the GS in general. If you cannot donate then share resources and create awareness on it. 🔪 Focus on decolonising climate change discussions and moving away from the inherent Eurocentrism and Amreekkkan imperialism in these spaces. LEARN ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH.
