Dear little black girls, I made this just for you, to remind you just how special and truly beautiful you all are.❤️🦋 ‘’Fourteen/fast girls” is a photo project I shot in January to explore black girl teenage hood, the different facets of what it means to be a teenager in the UK, by firstly exploring the adultification of working class girls in London. It’s a bittersweet feeling to see young black girls abilities to survive, hold on to their youths and navigate the ever changing and inconstant pressures of the culture around them. I also wrote a photo essay to accompany this project, will be uploading to my website this week-very open to all discussion around black girl teenage hood...what was it like for you at fourteen? Excited to share the full body of work in time. At a time like this I’m hoping these images bring some hope and light if only for a few seconds. I am confident in the safe communities (e.g @milkhoneybees @oursisterhood @girlslikeusldn ) currently being built for young black girls today, black girls will have a brighter future.🤍
