Hair-sparing in neurosurgery is not just about cosmetics. Studies have shown that how sick you look affects how you feel. When people look like themselves, without visible scars, they are more likely to socialize and resume daily activities. This leads to more movement, which lowers the risk of blood clots and other complications. And no, it does not increase risk of infection. That's why all of my surgeries are either incisionless, or performed with hair-sparing clipless techniques.
