“When I was diagnosed with metastatic young onset colon cancer 34 months ago, I wasn’t sure if I’d EVER hear my medical team say, “Alexa, go get your port out!”🥰💙🙏🏥​ Well friends, that’s exactly what I’m doing! It feels surreal to say that I’ve been off of chemo for over 2 years. It’s certainly an emotional morning, because I have no hard feelings for this little port. It gave me my life saving chemo and helped make blood work easier for check ups, scans and five inpatient hospital stays (16 days) for all of my surgeries. BUT we feel it’s time. Here’s to turning the page 📄 and closing this chapter, hopefully forever. No more port flushes or Eliquis for this mama.​ Excited to take a quick nap in a little bit!
