As I continue with our birds of New York series I find that I am slowly starting to use color photography in my portraits again and it feels good.
It’s been three years since I shot my first birds and I realize, that in a way it’s a never ending beautiful project that puts a spotlight on the free spirited people of nyc. Inviting these kids into our studio makes me happy and I get to learn about how they think and feel. This connection is what makes me love what I do. And I believe that sharing their story to the world makes people realize that there is so much good in our communities.
While still working on finalizing Birds of Mexico and at the same time being in talks about different Birds in other cities world wide.
Today I show you Ahmad Cissé.
He is a special force of energy.
When we met we had a instant connection.
He is an artist living in Bed-stuy Brooklyn.
He told me
“I am passionate about community as I have developed an overstanding that one must play their role as a component in contributing to the unit at large.
I strive to have this value translate within my art. My day-to-day consists of ways I can influence and to contribute to society from actively participating in community gardens and curating events that feeds the mind and soul of the people in my community.”
I asked him what he loved about New York.
“What I love about NY is that it has activated many parts of myself which I thought were nonexistent simply because they were dormant. Among others traits, NY further stimulated drive, tenacity, and mental fortitude. More importantly, NY has also accelerated my journey of self-discovery and self-mastery in such an exponential fashion.”
