Being back in the Bay brings me much joy and a whirlwind of activities. I came back for many reasons and because it holds so many dear people to me. I was lucky enough to reconnect with old and dear friends like @natachaelise ✨✨ to create work for ‘Collective Arising’ curated by @lucia_bunmi and @blublakwomyn, to see fellow cohort family @halakaddoura, to share food and an interview with @haus_of_allie, to feel joy and then the depths of despair over the repeal of Roe v Wade with a beautiful cohort of black women including @lavathomas & @346convent and to open a show with a wonderous group of collective individuals at @museumsoco One other moment was to make a yearly portrait of Apple, whom is a cherished soul. This is our 6th year making images together and she was very keen to make something in my likeness. How could I say no?! Without prompt or suggestion, this is the image she created. It is a gift to share space and time together. I’m quite enamored with the result. I want to give special thanks to Dad’s Marcus and Robbie @aubreymaxwelldesign for being involved in these precious moments and to @thechrismccall for being crucial to the idea conception. I can’t wait to start looking and editing this work when the time feels right❤️❤️
