A little lighter content for Friday because information overload is not cute for the end of the week. Let’s focus on some positives because there are so many! These are my three favourites. 1. The fashion industry used to have such a top down approach to styling and what’s a “cool aesthetic” now I see so many people expressing themselves and breaking out of the mainstream models. It’s so refreshing and creative. One aspect of this prioritises true style over micro trends or newness. 2. Even last year, when I used to speak about up cycling or DIY I’d be met with one or two sarky comments about it being irrelevant or for old people. That was ignorant and a half 😅 but now we’re seeing a surge of interest around this skill I’m THRILLED. Hope to see more repairs celebrated as people realise sewing can be fun! 3. When I first started speaking about mindful consumption and educating myself on sustainable fashion back in 2019, there were almost no POC highlighted in this space. Now I see many individuals, like myself, who have really struggled with being given the platform to speak about fashion through our lens be spotlighted. That’s a brilliant positive I hope to see continued ❤️ What are some positives you’ve seen in the sustainable or fashion space that you’d love to share?
