In this world, we link a lot of our self worth and value to our looks. It’s impossible to avoid when we’re all either glued to our tiny portable screens or other media forms.
This is my letter of love to my past self and body, you should try writing yourself one too. Even just 5/10 mins writing onto a blank page. It might seem silly but writing down your thoughts/feelings towards yourself can make such a massive difference in healing, or shift your perception of yourself.
Body neutrality for me has been a huge healer. I wrote on photo 8 that it’s helped me see myself in a positive light. Doesn’t seem like it makes sense as neutral = neutral, positive = positive, right? Body neutrality has shifted my perception on myself in ways that I never expected it to. Just existing in my body without constant fixation or obsessed on what it looks like has been so refreshing. That’s why I’ve seen it so positively.
It’s so freeing knowing that you can go from one side of the spectrum to the other when it comes to body image issues. I’m not all the way to being fully free when it comes to disordered habits and behaviours (it’s so hard to be when we’re in a world that’s still battling fatphobia daily) but being in a headspace that can challenge my inner taught fat phobia and fight against it is pretty impressive.
Start writing your journey today, I promise you that you’ll surprise yourself :)
