It’s about time I share my hair journey with the world! - as any kinky/curly head knows, we’re not conditioned to love our curls, especially when we were young. We were taught to straighten our hair for school, but that was societies idea of “neat and tidy. ” ( which is still debatable today) My mom would blow out my hair every weekend, and let’s face it, all you curls, kinks and coils know what those torturous hours are like. When I started modeling professionally, around age 18, almost every time I had a photoshoot the hairstylist on set would leave my hair naturally curly and I absolutely loved it, that’s when I started embracing my natural hair. When i won Miss SA 2007 I was told to do my own hair the night of the pageant because they preferred a standard look for all the contestants and I refused to blend in. “Don’t let societies beauty standards dictate what you should look like embrace and invest in your natural hair, it’s the crown you never take off👑 Wear your hair with unwavering pride.” Hair by @irene_thetexpert @thezhooshcut Art Direction by Candice A.
