Reposted from @thelegendsofmusic Joe Cocker performing “With A Little Help From My Friends” at the Woodstock Festival in 1969⁣ ⁣ The story behind Joe Cocker’s cover of The Beatles song “With A Little Help From My Friends”: ⁣ ⁣ Around the late 1960’s Joe Cocker was heavily influenced by Ray Charles and he was actively looking for a way in, which he could extend that influence towards the music and songs he was singing. This influence reached a point where his feeling for what he is singing cannot really be questioned, only felt by the music. His re-arrangement of the Beatles song was very radical since it was presented to the world in a slower 6/8 time signature instead of the original 4/4 beat. ⁣ ⁣ Joe Cocker’s version also uses different chords in the middle eight, and a lengthy instrumental introduction that features drums by Procol Harum’s B.J. Wilson, guitarist Jimmy Page and organ by Tommy Eyre. Once the final song was recorded, Joe Cocker and record producer Denny Cordell brought it to Paul McCartney, who later said of the recording, “it was just mind blowing, totally turned the song into a soul anthem and I was forever grateful for him for doing that.” ⁣ ⁣ What do you think of this song? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts ⁣⁣ ⁣ #Music #RockNRoll #JoeCocker iiii]; )'
