Since the 2020 election, the question I’ve been asked most often is if I had the pleasure of meeting our former First Lady, Michelle Obama. After last Tuesday, I can finally say that I have—and I’m thrilled to report that she is every bit as extraordinary as you’d imagine. She graciously took a moment to speak with me, and in all the excitement, my mom Charmaine enthusiastically blurted out, “She made the Vote necklace!” Michelle was so warm, kind, and even took my hand to tell me she was proud of all the hard work I’ve done—an unforgettable moment of encouragement that I’ll carry with me forever. I was so captivated by her speech that I barely noticed, and it was only later through photos that I realized she was even wearing our Vote pin. Thank you, Michelle Obama, for inspiring and empowering all of us, and for a moment that changed my life.
