Find you a man that can hold you when you’re down. As we enter the month of our soon to be union in marriage, I can’t help but reflect back on some of the most important reasons why I chose to marry this man. You see, not every man would choose to do the hard things with you. Not every man can see your entire spectrum of light and darkness and choose you anyways. Love is a choice. It’s an easy choice to be there when things are picture perfect. Laughing until your cheeks hurt, embracing the sweet love between you, indulging in the most wild, pleasurable moments together. The hard part is choosing to love someone when you’re in the trenches with them. It’s choosing to wipe their tears, hold their hand, speak life into them when they can’t do it for themselves. It’s a choice to look within yourself and ask, how can I be a better woman? A better man? What do I need to work on to show up in this relationship in the way that we both deserve? These choices will make or break a relationship. But when you make that decision to do the work, to grow, to love unconditionally, to play, to cheer each other on, to support one another while also supporting yourself. That’s when you know that you have received the greatest gift you’ll ever know. True love is beautiful. It isn’t just beautiful because of the good moments. What makes it beautiful is how you overcome hard things together. Both @chancelloraven and I have had to do this for one another at various points in our relationship. In the beginning I had to hold down the fort for Chancellor while he was recovering from a chronic illness. And most recently he has had to do the same for me with my mental health. I have no doubts in my mind that this man was meant to be my husband. He’s shown me over and over that no matter what, he will continue to choose me. He’s loved me deeper than I could have ever imagined, and I feel the same about him. I am so excited to marry this man. There’s no one else in the world I’d want by my side through the ups and downs of life. ❤️❤️❤️
