Running unlocks such a deep and profound relationship with the city. It’s tactile ,it’s visceral , it’s immediate. The smells , the voices , the different types of dogs and their different types of barks . My fellow runners , people commuting by feet , my fellow humans. My mind clears up , I notice my thoughts ,I reflect , I space out , I remember a scene from a film , I think about a Tshirt I haven’t worn in a while , a friend I need to phone , Nina Simone said freedom is having no fear and when I run in these troubled Johannesburg streets I feel free .
