My new sculpture ‘Emergency Exit for Daily Life II: Backrooms’ is currently installed in the public space outside of Covent de Sant Agustí, Barcelona. It’s part of the exhibition Cave Canem which is on show inside the former monestry. The work is a follow up to ‘Emergency Exit for Daily Life’ which was presented in public space with @zku.berlin in 2020. This continuation of the project suggests various options to flee for life as one knows it. The repetition of the emergency doors on all sides of the structure, which are usually only used to flee from indoors to outside, refers to the feeling of endlessness or the absence of destination that’s also created by backrooms and other liminal spaces. 👉🏼 Swipe to the last video to see Barcelona’s local aquarel group testing my construction skills Note: 100% made out of wood 🪵 (except for the lights) in reference to film and theater, which often make use of liminal space in their set design (shout out 🎥 Truman Show, Being John Malkovich & Holy Motors)
