Y’all! I felt so poured into and taken care of during my bday week!. My ATL crew threw me a jewel themed dinner at the Saint Regis (ofc I had to be my birthstone, sapphire 🔹) l got to see my Rhode Island childhood bestie @rhemathompson who I’ve known for 35 years 🤯. I got a facial by THEE one and only @kieturneraesthetics (book with her and thank me later), and my family decorated a beautifully gilded birthday table, cooked for me and set up movie night on the porch. I also got so many calls, texts and voicemails — and for some reason it surprises me every year that someone is thinking of me. I needed all of this more than I knew, despite the natural urge to repay everyone, be the giver, and not be waited on and catered to. I don’t know when it happened exactly, but I stopped asking for help. I stopped accepting or expecting this kind of care. It was a lesson in receiving and I am so incredibly grateful to love and be loved ✨
