Ram Island Moonrise & Eclipse . The last of the full moon pics from the most recent moon cycle as seen from the beach at Fort Williams Park overlooking Ram Island Light, and Ferry Beach in Scarborough the next morning for the lunar eclipse. Funny thing about Fort Williams is that the park closes at sunset every day, with security making an announcement over the loudspeakers half an hour or so before sunset, but on this night—with the moonrise starting 10 minutes before sunset and only really appearing right at sunset—nobody moved a muscle haha! In fact, dozens of people and cars pulled into the parking lot and filed out onto the beach to watch the moon, even after the announcement while security drove around telling people it was time to leave. Fortunately, they were a little more understanding as everyone in sight marveled at Earth’s glowing satellite as it rose behind the lighthouse and into the Belt of Venus as the light faded. Such a beautiful night, and a big thanks to the park rangers for letting everyone enjoy it—you the real MVP! 📸 Cape Elizabeth & Scarborough, Maine
