Because I naturally gravitate toward unusual flower varieties when designing (sometimes seed pods and vegetables instead of flowers), people often point to an element in the arrangement and ask if it’s real. I love bending their expectation of what a flower arrangement looks like. I’m not, by any measure, the only designer that does this and I’m glad there seems to be a wave of newfound appreciation in the zeitgeist for this genre of work. I’m approaching the one decade mark in the floral industry this year and it feels like the right time and place to be.
