Heaven gained my Sweet Suess. I met her in 2009 after she walked into my college apartment. I was going through a heartbreak and was dreading going back to school until I opened the front door and saw Little Suess staring up at me with her big green eyes. We took a nap together that day and her snuggles relieved any pain I had. We have a very spiritual bond. She was my other half, part of my soul family, my everything. It’s always been just the two of us for the past 13 years. Suess understood me in ways no human has or ever will be able to. She truly was my best friend and main companion through life. We’ve been told we even have the same numerology number 11 and both represent the high priestess. People wouldn’t just ask “how are you Deanna” They would say “how are you and Suess.” We came as a pair. She traveled from Ohio to the big city with me. We hopped around apartment to apartment and she even stayed with my Dad until I got more settled before making LES home. A lot of people don’t know that even my logo of a cat was inspired by her so she will always be remembered. I will miss our daily hallway walks, how we used to play tag. I would hide in the bathroom until she would slowly creep around the door and find me and then we would sprint back and forth in my studio until we were both out of breath. I’ll miss her slow reassuring blinks, her love for drinking out of bottle caps and mugs, her love for watching Dr. Suess, The Lion King and bird videos. She would run to greet me with a big meow and leg rubs whenever I got home in her days of health. I miss watching her curl up in my winter jackets in a little ball, I will miss her looking over my shoulder while I sketch, I will miss cuddling with her during thunderstorms, I will most of all miss how she would kiss my face gently to wake me up every morning. She knew how to just be present and be there for me. No opinions or judgment, no unasked for advice. Her company was truly the best remedy to any of life’s challenges.
