This video has nothing to do with me but I resonate with this sentiment so much and just felt compelled to share a snippet of it. (The full clip is about 8 minutes and is on YouTube, search ‘the importance of awakening, jodorowsky’ I recommend). Jodorowsky’s work has acted as a sort of spiritual guidance system in my life. And his interviews are so rich in philosophies that I deeply resonate with, as an artist and more importantly as a human. When you get past the surrealism you find a deeply poetic and romantic nectar that is extremely nourishing and comforting in the end. despite its own dysfunctional nature, through blood shed and despair art always lays a loving kiss on the forehead on humanity. Or at least most certainly on mine. We’re all trying our hardest to make sense of our place in the world, I know I struggle a lot in that department. The moral of the story is to at least start to embark on that journey of self discovery and find out what life has to offer you and in return find out what you have to offer the world.
