It’s Fun Fact Friday! Today’s fun fact: Greene County is the largest turkey producer in Indiana! Indiana raises over 20 million turkeys every year, and Greene County produces over 400,000 of those. In total, Indiana has more turkeys than Hoosiers, and that’s only on farms! Indiana also hosts an impressive wild turkey population. In 1900, native wild turkeys were practically extinct in Indiana. However, through great conservation and reintroduction efforts, there are now over 125,000 wild turkeys throughout the state and they can be found in all 92 counties!
