Going into pre-op in about an hour!! Holding my treatment blanket closer than ever. It brings me a lot of peace and comfort.💜
I’ve had this blanket since my first day of radiation in September of 2019, and I made a vow to take it to every treatment, surgery and appointment for the rest of my time navigating cancer. I’ve only ever forgotten it once, and as silly as it may seem, it made a massive difference in my mood during my chemo. If you look back at old pictures from hospital visits you can almost always find this blanket.
This is something I hold close that keeps me grounded. Sometimes I look at it and cry tears of joy knowing what I’ve been able to do in just three years. If I’m not going through active treatment I normally fold it and keep it in my piano bench in my room until I need it during a bad day. I don’t let anyone else use it and I only have it when I absolutely need it.
These past three weeks I have needed this blanket and held it tighter than I ever have before. Going into surgery in an hour I snuggle it close. I took it to my MRIs and X-rays and remind myself that I can do hard things, and I love the person I have become no matter what obstacles come my way. 💜
