#rhysloops—entitled ‘mccoy’ honoring the master jazz pianist and the one year anniversary of his passing. mccoy tyner's playing has had significant impact on my life over the years and i'm convinced that his solo on ‘my favorite things’ saved me several times over as a vulnerable high-schooler. not to mention his staggering 74 albums as bandleader, nearly 30 with john coltrane, plus the incredible playing on those classic mid-60s wayne shorter records... early in the week, i decided to share the loop this weekend. out of curiosity i looked up mccoy's birthday to see if it the dates would happen to magically sync up and realized that saturday, march 6 would mark exactly one year since his death. i must admit there's been a lot of inspiring synchronicity at play lately and i'm paying close attention to what it has to offer 🙏🏽
