Yesterday was my first Mother’s Day Alhamdulillah. I spent the day celebrating my son and reflecting on my journey to motherhood. Not too long ago I prayed and patiently waited for this blessing. Allah is the best of planners and His timing for bringing my son into my life was impeccable. Although the journey was not easy and IG glamorous, I learned so much about myself and discovered strength I didn’t think I had. I wouldn’t change any of the tough days/experiences because I know that every moment is temporary and fleeting, and I’ve learned to really embrace and lean in to every part of it. I’m so grateful to Allah SWT everyday for granting me this privilege and blessing of motherhood, and I pray that I am able to instill in my son the best of our imaan, the passion for social justice, and the love for his family and community. To anyone out there praying for this blessing, may Allah grant it to you when He knows it is best for you. Your journey is your own and comparison is the thief of joy.
