Sustainability is central to Abernethy Owens Optometrists' vision for advancing eye care. All its WA practices have been recycling contact lenses for years through TerraCycle, and their Zero Waste Boxes are filling up quickly as daily disposable lenses become more popular.
“Our contact lens patients fill up containers at home with their used lenses and opened plastic packaging and bring them in to add to the boxes,” says business development manager, Megan Harris.
At busier practices, like Fremantle or Floreat, the boxes fill up within a few months. “At this stage I don't think our patients would let us give them up!”
As the person leading the recycling charge, Megan says it’s all about flexibility. “The Zero Waste Box program is so easy to use. I can place an order for the boxes we need at any time, however regularly we want.”
If you’re handling difficult-to-recycle rubbish at home or at work, join the ranks of TerraCycle’s Zero Heroes to cure your waste woes. Take a peek at our range of Zero Waste Boxes and see if there’s a solution for you. (Check link in bio)
