It’s Fun Fact Friday! Today’s fun fact: Holiday World, located in Spencer County, is the oldest family-owned theme park in the country. Troubled by the disappointment of children who visited Santa Claus, Indiana, only to find that there was no Santa there, industrialist Louis J. Koch created Santa Claus Land in August 1946, nine years before Disneyland! The park expanded over time to include Halloween, Fourth of July and Thanksgiving sections along with a water park. Today, Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari is one of the top water parks in the nation, attracting more than 1 million visitors to Spencer County each year. Which holiday is your favorite?
