Today is Global Climbing Day, an event that @thenorthface has created to help lower the barriers for entry into climbing and help get people into a gym. I was lucky enough to start climbing in a local gym when I was 10 years old and have basically kept it up ever since. These are a few pictures that I dug up of the youth competitions that I did as a kid. I never really won, but I had a good time traveling around California every weekend sampling different gyms. But besides the competitions, climbing gave me something to do for my entire childhood - it’s hard to overstate how much that shaped my life, seeing as how I’ve basically climbed full time ever since.
