One night last June, I was sitting in my sofa at home. Instead of watching Netflix, I decided to have the eruption webcam on the tv. I started watching and noticed that the crater was behaving differently than before. It was spewing out lava pretty much continuously in great volumes. I kept watching and after an hour, it was still doing the same thing. Then the gears in my head started grinding. I decided I was just going to take my photo gear, put on my hiking boots and drive to the eruption. When I got there, it was still doing its thing. I was so worried it would stop before I made it up the mountain so I just ran straight up. I got halfway and then decided to get my drone out in case it would stop. As I approached the crater with the drone, it shifted gears and went even crazier then before. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to just get out and shoot whenever I felt I needed to.
