Beautiful work by beautiful people. 🎭 I’m a little late on my February “go see some theatre” haul. There’s just been so much to take in both in the seeing place and out in the real world. I’d be doing these pieces such a disservice if I said nothing, so here we go... Go experience a whirlwind of a tale about a man slowly losing his grip on reality as his loved ones lose their grip on him. The cast and company of @richmondshakespeare’s “The Father” are doing excellent work down at @vareptheatre’s Theatre Gym. Go see them through Sun, Feb 16. Head down the road to @scmtheatre to see the story of Anne Frank like you never have before. This cast balances the dark realities of our past and present with the levity that comes when we simply humanize those who the world tries to dehumanize. So grateful to experience “The Diary of Anne Frank” at this point in our shared history. Go see them through Sat, Feb 15. Last but not least, my good sis @katrinahcarol ate up her cabaret debut, “Becoming Me, Black and Free” at @richmond.triangle.players. A soul-baring vocal triumph of a night with a simple message: “My life does not belong to the oppressor.” If you missed it, too bad. BUT, you can still go see my friend next month in @firehousetheatre’s production of “Detroit ‘67.” As always, I’m grateful to be in community with talented artists doing important work.
