Mother’s Day 2022. To have the privilege and choice to become a mother to Romeo has been an infinite gift. I am forever grateful for the means to have arrived here. It could have turned out very differently. I am also extremely grateful to the doctors that performed two abortions while I was inexorably tied to an abusive man. My life would have led down a completely different path, one where I might not even be alive today. I am extremely saddened and fearful for all the girls and women who will suffer at the overturning of #RoevWade. My story is not unique and there are far worse situations and yet this country is allowing misogyny to control the outcomes of our lives. This Mother’s Day, I celebrate all mothers but I also revere the courageous women who have chosen as is their right and for whatever reason to not become mothers.
