My dad was 12 on 22 April, 1970, the first ever Earth Day. After learning about how polluting cars were he committed to biking everywhere. For about a decade he biked to school, to work, and once all the way to Florida from Baltimore to join his family for vacation. Eventually he did start driving, but he always (and still) bikes whenever he can. My fondest memories of biking with him come back whenever I bike. Now I take my kids in the bucket of an electric bike even though we live pretty rurally, and on the top of a hill. I hope Earth Day inspires people to take action, and that the action they take towards a more sustainable just world also brings them as much joy and freedom and closeness as biking brings my family // Ty @chan_ely @britishvogue for inspiring this #earthday reflection.
