One of the most memorable nights during our time in Lagos, Nigeria was when @baba_aminu took Anya Okorafor and me to Terra Kulture. The art was amazing (the one I posted is by @roberttheartis2), I bought a cool t-shirt, but it was when we left that the greatest part happened. There was a bar and they were doing karaoke. None of us had ever done karaoke. Lol, karaoke in Lagos...I never imagined such a thing, for some reason. Me, personally, I can actually sing pretty decently (I’m no Whitney Houston, but I can hold a note and I have vocals), but I cannot sing in front of people thanks to a (more than probably racist) music teacher humiliating me in grade school. Ah, the emotional scars we carry. And I looooove to sing (I sing everything when I'm at home alone...or around my daughter), smh. Anyway, Anya shocked me by saying she wanted to do it. So there we were. Then Abdulkareem, who was initially as timid as me...became a karaoke monster along with Anya, 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Me...nah, still unable to scale my issues (yeah yeah...maybe next time), but it was awesome to watch. Also, there were bats in the trees above harvesting fruit! 🦇.
