Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and we will be celebrating Hispanic Jewish Achievement throughout history. Today we recognize @alimayorkas, United States Secretary of Homeland Security. His mother was born in Romania and survived the Holocaust, fleeing to Cuba in the 1940s. His father is a Cuban Jew. The family fled Cuba in 1960 for the United States as refugees. In 1998, Secretary Mayorkas became the country’s youngest United States Attorney and was later appointed by President @barackobama to be the director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
