Happy 'Agriculture Calendar New Year'! I cannot wait to pay respect to my elderly and hug everyone. 🏮🌾🍍🐅 🌸 1 February 2022 marks the first day of a lunisolar new year, often anglicised as 'Lunar New Year', 'Spring Festival' or 'Chinese New Year'. This festival is celebrated by a number of East Asian communities which observe the Chinese ‘agriculture calendar’, not just the Chinese. Last year I introduced a twist and call it 'the agricultural calendar new year' on @farmstofeedus. It's a literal translation of the traditional hanzi/hanja/kanji for the festival - 農曆新年. It includes an introduction to the different lunisolar and lunar new year celebrations around the world and how these spring festivals are routed in agriculture. (See the post on 12/2/21.) Join us again this year to celebrate the 'Agriculture Calendar New Year' as a cross-cultural festival that honours nature and the people who feed and nourish us. Allow me to bow to you all. Love, Cathy
