We did it!!!! 26 miles in one day for @alzheimerssoc and for my granda David 🥹💙 #Trek26 I'm not going to lie, this one was a toughy 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Having done no training at all we started to feel the physical affects of this trek at around mile 13- at least I did! I think it took whippersnapper @ercan_ram til about mile 16/17 😂 But I cried a good number of times- remembering my grandad, thinking about how much he would have LOVED to have done something like that and about all of the hundreds of thousands of people struggling in our country with this heartbreaking and debilitating disease. Among other things the money we raised will go to fund phone lines that offer support and information to those suffering and their family members. I remember when my grandad first showed signs of dementia and none of us knew quite what to do- when those affected become forgetful or mixed up- you sort of brush it to the side- not wanting to upset them or face it yourself. But getting the right information and adequate support can mean that you and your loved one have a better quality of life.
