Next week, on Tuesday 10th of January 2023, Sarah Mardini @sara_mardini963, Seán Binder @sean.binder and Nassos Karakitsos @nassos_karakitsos will face imprisonment for helping refugees flee danger. Whilst working as part of a search and rescue team on the Greek island of Lesvos in 2018, the three volunteers were charged with human smuggling, espionage, membership in a criminal organisation and money laundering—all for helping and standing in solidarity with refugees fleeing conflict in search of a safer life. It’s essential that we call on the Greek authorities to drop these charges. Choose Love stands in solidarity with Sarah, Seán and Nassos. Solidarity should never be punished.
