Just taking you through a little tour of our new dressing room at the @melodyehsanishop on Fairfax ave in Los Angeles. We were blessed to have our friend and favorite artist/creator Lauren Halsey @summaeverythang create the room. It’s such a beautiful installation of her work, I can hardly believe it’s a functional space. Whenever I’m at the shop now; I just want to go sit in there. Aside from her work as an artist, Lauren is in constant service to her community. A true activist and silent hero. Accompanying the entrance to the dressing room hangs a piece from another one of our favorite humans/artists @hankwillisthomas I’ve known Hank for many years and have always been in awe at how his social commentary translates through his work. Aside from creating beautiful works of art- he’s also one of founders of @forfreedoms . Also fun fact that this series of lenticular pieces inspired a lot of my own creative work these past few years. When we opened the store almost 10 years ago, we wanted it to be a place not just of commerce but community. Although the pandemic was hard on us, it gave us the opportunity to work with our community in a different way and bring in some new elements including this art. I’m excited to share next with you our permanent shop in shop with @reparations.club . In the meantime, we hope to see you and hope to get our Speaker Series and community events back in motion soon. 💜🙏🏽💜
