The final episode of Everything I Know About Love airs tonight on BBC One at 10.40 pm. It was the hardest one to make, both creatively and practically. There were moments when it looked like we wouldn’t get to go to New York (thanks @simaloney for pulling that one off). It was a difficult episode to pitch and every time I said “a self-contained epilogue” I sounded more and more like a twat. It had the most redrafts and the most cuts. But we all committed to it and I’m glad that we did, and grateful that the BBC let us. I am particularly proud of the beautiful direction from Julia Ford, the main performances from @emmajappleton @thecameroncuffe and Sophie Thompson. And this arrangement and cover of New York by @selfesteemselfesteem. I got the audio file from her while I was at the pub and stood outside bossily shushing people while I held my phone to my ear and cried (sorry for anyone who was trying to enjoy a pint and cigarette at The Coach in Clerkenwell sometime in mid-Feb of this year). One of my favourite moments of post-production was the day we showed @emmajappleton @marlisiu @belpowley @aliyahodoffin all the episodes for the first time and ate a lot of cake. At the credits of episode seven, @belpowley wailed: “THAT CAN’T BE THE END??!!” 💔
