Phil and I both come from families who love traditions and it’s something that quickly became part of our relationship. It’s been one month since our wedding so it seemed an ideal time for a cheesy (and absurdly long) post to share some of the traditions that inspired our wedding(s): August 2018: Phil and I went to Champagne, France together for the first time and fell in love with the wine and food, beautiful countryside, and inevitably each other. We took a picture on the steps of Domaine Crayeres and bought a very special bottle of Dom Ruinart that we took home with us. (Phil also reignited an old cigarette habit, which also got its own moment throughout our wedding weekend) December 8, 2019: Phil proposed and we spontaneously decided to check-in to the Waldorf Beverly Hills and finally got to drink the bottle of Dom Ruinart we had been saving. December 27, 2019: We returned to France for NYE and once again visited Champagne and the crayeres (caves where they store the champagne). Over a bottle of Dom Ruinart and more then a few martinis we decided to get married in Champagne. July 1, 2022: We got legally married a block from our house, just the two of us and then spent the weekend at the place we have spent many birthdays, staycations and of course our engagement. And of course there was lots of champagne. One month ago we finally had our wedding and all of these traditions came together for a special weekend, which deserves its own posts. Phil, I love you almost as much as you probably hate this post. Wish we were in Champagne or at least at the Waldorf, but I’ll settle for Apple Pan and champagne dinner.
