MIXED GENE, a group show curated by @kanghaoxian is currently on view now at WOAW Gallery Beijing till 8 February 2023. @juting.juting Amber 10052, 2022 Acrylic on wood 160 x 162 cm Born in 1983 in Shandong Province, China, Ju Ting graduated with a BA in Printmaking from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2007, followed by an MFA in Printmaking in 2013.The now Beijing-based abstract artist took interest in fusing painting and sculpture into her work and the eradication of boundaries between the mediums. By applying thick coats of paint and then slicing surface layers, Ju revealed layers underneath to give depth to the canvas, bringing them to the sculptural realm. Her utilisation of the elasticity of acrylic and gravity to create dapped, torn or layered texture in her works brings forth a sense of material reality to audiences.
