This spot might make the best fried chicken you haven’t heard about in NYC! Luther’s is open between 5pm to 12pm, Thursday to Sunday inside TV Eye. Luther’s (📍1647 Weirfield St, Queens, NY) was named after Jesse’s grandfather. The chicken joint is run by Jesse and his wife, Jolene and the couple also runs. Jesse was born and raised in Atlanta and fell in love with fried chicken through his grandparents’ cooking. What makes Luther’s so good is that they do an overnight brine and then sous vide the chicken. Then, they do all they can to maximize their chicken’s crispiness by reducing moisture and increasing air pockets. This means soda water in their dredge, double-frying the chicken, and literally air-chilling their chicken with a fan before the final fry.
